X-Men: The Last Stand Review

X-Men: The Last Stand is no Rocky III or Superman III, but it definitely isn’t a Return of the Jedi either. As a film, it is a decent summer action flick with all of the ingredients, Action, Comedy, and Mutant Superpowers. As a sequel to two of the most beloved comic adaptations of all time, and personally two of my favorite movies of all time, this film is just a complete failure and does not do either of the films the justice they deserve. - 2.50/5.00

United 93 Review

Amidst a ton of controversy concerning the timing of the source material, United 93 makes its way to theatres this weekend as the first of several movies due out in 2006 focusing on the tragedy of September 11, 2001. While I am sure the controversy surrounding the film will cause many movie goers to shy away, in my honest opinion, they would be missing one of the most powerful movies to hit cinemas in the last 20 years. - 4.50/5.00

Scary Movie 4 Review

After 4 movies, how much is there really left to say about the Scary Movie franchise? While it can be argued that this quadrilogy (is that a word?) has had some good entries and some poor, they have all managed to remain consistent in what they bring to the table. With Scary Movie 4, you get exactly what you’ve come to expect; toilet humor, prop jokes, and an all out assault on basically every horror and action movie to hit the big screen since the last Scary Movie. - 1.50/5.00

16 Blocks Review

Going in to see 16 Blocks, I didn’t really know what to expect. On the one hand you have Bruce Willis, who has a decent body of work with movies like Sin City, Unbreakable, and the 6th Sense. On the other hand, you have Bruce Willis who has an equally brutal body of work, including Hostage, The Whole Ten Yards, and Tears of the Sun. So, until you find out which Bruce is gonna show up in the movie, the good or the bad, you really have no idea how the movie will turn out as a whole. - 3.00/5.00

Final Destination 3 Review

How many ways are there to murder a roller coaster full of stupid teenagers? Skies the limit and the imagination has no bounds. We took the time to find out just how many teens need to die in order to make a sequel to a franchise known for elaborate deaths and ludicrous storylines. You'll be surprised to know, the answer is more then 10! - 2.00/5.00

King Kong Review

Just when the year looked like it was going to vanish with a whimper, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire stepped up to spark a cinema revolution and bring the audiences back to theatres. The special effects masterpiece, The Chronicles of Narnia, helped carry the revolution along with a monstrous opening weekend managing to almost completely revive the dying season. Well, if Harry is the fire starter and Narnia is the lighter fluid, King Kong is the forest fire that burns higher and brighter then any other fire in 2005. - 4.50/5.00

Walk the Line Review

Walk the Line is a powerful movie which takes a look at the rise of a hall of fame artist and how he overcomes his personal issues with family, friends, and even himself. The entire film is exceptional, and is only bolstered by the amazing performances by both Phoenix and Witherspoon. This is one of the better films of 2005, and I guarantee is a contender for Oscar this year. Check it out in theatres before it’s too late. You won’t be disappointed. - 4.00/5.00

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth film in the potentially seven film epic envisioned by author J.K. Rowlings. One thing you can always say about the Harry Potter series, and that's the effects and characters will keep the fans in the seats all the way to the end. Goblet of Fire is no exception... - 3.50/5.00

Get Rich or Die Tryin' Review

Get Rich or Die Tryin’ is the third film in as many years, and the second one this year alone, to focus on the story of a down and out criminal who cleans himself up by discovering his talent for rapping. While the formula for this type of film has been beaten to death by dozens of other films, focusing on rappers and the lives they lead before being discovered, is at least superficially, a little different. Get Rich or Die Tryin’ follows the formula to the letter so if you’re expecting to be knocked out of your seat with originality, think again… - 3.50/5.00

Jarhead Review

Is Jarhead a movie you should check out this fall? Well, I guess that depends on what you’re looking for in a movie. If you’re looking for a movie that depicts a front line account of war, with explosions and gunfire in every scene, then this movie is not for you. Jarhead is a movie about war; war with another country, war against your own country, and war against yourself. - 4.00/5.00
